Second Time covers the emotions and life lessons that we all experience. The lyrics are telling a story, if you listen carefully enough you will hear a rooted narrative. The characters in this particular story are fictional, but the concept and the events that I’m talking about happen to us all. Second Time is a song about not giving up, not losing faith and realising that an ‘end’ doesn’t always mean the definition of the word, it can just mean not now.
lyrics
Broken hearts and broken bottles Sick and tired of fighting battles
All is lost and nothing borrowed Then you arrive
Will you hold me tonight?
Will you hold me?
We’re wandering lovers, nothing to decide
We’ll fall for each other for the second time
One piece of this puzzle is reading the signs
When you arrive for the second time
Sitting by the doors at Barlow’s
And you’re wondering how to tell her
When she walks in and she sees you
Bag full of clothes
She says ‘are you leaving tonight?
Are you leaving?’
We’re wandering lovers, nothing to decide
We’ll fall for each other for the second time
One piece of this puzzle is reading the signs
When you arrive, reading your mind
When you arrive
They said ‘go back, tell her everything you know’
Love is a devil’s game I had to go
Take your time but I’m leaving tonight
But I know, oh I know
Oh I know
We’re wandering lovers, nothing to decide
We’ll fall for each other for the second time
One piece of this puzzle is reading the signs
When you arrive, reading your mind
When you arrive, reading your eyes
When you arrive
